killbot is even better for such large maps.
most of the times i played killbot won the game.
reaper has problems with large maps like Dark Ages and Stargate.
Sparrow crashes 8/10 in those maps.
Just, whatever you do, don't use BotofDoom.

All of yuor requests have been accepted with the exception of organ grinder. Organ grinder is a little hard to look at and decipher, so I don't think it would make for a successful MOTW.

the 2 people who voted for Dark Ages (westside and enjoymoreradio) please show up in the MOTW week room at some point.
at least lets try to have 1 FH game. sam ode and me have been the only ones really playing. occasionally someone might play a game and never show up again. why vote for a map if you won't bother to play it at least once?

When I requested Dark Ages, I was not anticipating being out of school by the time it became MOTW. As such, I am now stuck at home with my 56k dial-up modem. I'll be sure to drop by today, though.

PS

Last time I looked at the Network Games, the MOTW autohost was still on the previous MOTW, and Ode host was empty.

Map Request

Post by SharpEndO'TheStick » Tue Jun 24, 2008 7:38 pm

I'd like to see MesoAmerican Battles as map of the week (if it hasn't already been chosen recently).

The map plays well with good balance and strategy variations.

MesoAmerican Battles was MOTW for Feb 4-11, 2008.

A lot of people complained that it leaned towards marathons.

Each to their own, because I thought it rocked as MOTW, especially if the %increase was set at 20% or higher....lots of different incomes on a balanced board. Great map. Loads of fun!!

Sorry VLC but people recommend maps that when the time comes to play them they don't bother to even try it once. Those voted for Dark Ages, Stargate never showed up to play at least one game :( .
this map has marathon written all over it.
which only ruins the game play for those who are regulars in the motw room.

I vote NO to that map.

and in its place i vote for Maryland

I tend to agree with Enokrad here, while I really like the large hex maps such as the Space Empire series, I don't think they would make for good MOTW competition as demonstrated by Stargate and Dark Ages. They are just too big for MOTW.

Wow enjoymoreradio has now become my favourite person. I didn't realise anyone ever played my map.

I have to agree with mbauer on this one though. It is my first map and while it was fun to make it is a little too complicated yet way too easy to beat the bots playing it. I would love some pointers on how it could be improved. I started my second map and then gave up becasue I didn't think anyone liked my first. Maybe I will start again.....

how about Teleport? Someone some time ago came in a room and randomly asked people to join in a room playing that map. Its was pretty fun. I don't know how it would last for weekly play, might get kind of redundant of a while. just a though, not a real "request". Any thought?

Don't give up on maps DJ. I've made probably four or five but only submitted the one. I guess the hard thing for me is finding something unique.

There is always talk of Classic. I noticed it has never been MOTW. is there a reason for this? I think it would be a madhouse if Classic was up for a week. Also it may encourage a lot of people to start playing it more often. Any thoughts?

if classic was motw we might have a record setting motw map.

most points/most games/most suicides and anything else you can imagine.

i like the idea.

i wouldn't hurt since it would only be for a week.

i would chill back, watch all the absurdness go on, and enjoy the show Image

Classic will never be MOTW

For 1, enough people already play classic and it's variants, we don't need to encourage more.

and 2nd of all because of rule #3 in the first post of this thread
3) No Classic or variants. MOTW is about encouraging alternative maps. (World maps are OK)
The bolded underlined part being most important.

Thanks,
MB

Hasn't Ground Zero been MOTW before?

How about Nevada - Alien assault. It's good.

I searched and I couldn't find Ground Zero as a past MOTW.

Your request has been accepted, Nevada will be MOTW starting September 29.

I would like to request Classic part Trois as a MOTW. I read that classic variants are not eligible, but this map is sick. I'm sure it would be played alot.

I agree it is a really good map, but it will not be MOTW since it's a classic variant, sorry.

Can we try Lux in Flux for next weeks MOTW?

I tested out Siena - The Palio and the map is completely ridiculous. The top castle is worth 4 income (1 space) while the others are all worth 1 only. The conts and the center city are very difficult to hold. Whoever holds the top castle at the end of round 1 should be able to win each game barring everyone ganging on that 1 person every time. All in all it does not appear to be an enjoyable map.
