Map Of The Week (MOTW) requests
Map Of The Week (MOTW) requests
Each week, Sillysoft showcases one map as the Map of the Week (MOTW). The map gets featured in online rooms, and players get awards for winning on it.
Maps are selected based on a combination of playability and beauty.
If you'd like a specific map to be featured as MOTW, please post here. Some notes:
1) Post the name of the map along with a link to the map's webpage so there's no mixups and people can see details.
2) If you'd like to discuss a map in more detail, start a new thread with your thoughts (or look for a thread about that map and post there).
3) No Classic or variants. MOTW is about encouraging alternative maps. (World maps are OK)
4) Maps can only be MOTW once. Click here to see a complete list of past MOTWs
5) The sweet spot for multi-player maps is 40-60 countries. The closer your map is to that size the better chance it has of becoming a really popular MOTW.
Thanks for all your suggestions. We will try our hardest to work your request into the schedule as quickly as possible, please be patient.
Thank you,
mapLAB

I think that would be why Dark Ages isn't in there.mbauer wrote: 5) The sweet spot for multi-player maps is 40-60 countries. The closer your map is to that size the better chance it has of becoming a really popular MOTW.

Listen, I enjoy joking around as much as the next luxer, but I'm serious in wanting to keep this thread free from it.
Every so often someone is disapointed with the MOTW selection and comes to the forum to complain. This thread was started in an attempt to curb that and give serious MOTW players some control over what becomes the featured maps of the week.
If you are joking about your map request and I can't tell then that map will be made MOTW, then you will be negating what this thread is intended to do. Which is why I politely asked for only serious requests.
Rocks is quite intentionally a "joke" map intended to be "poor" (no offense Preach). It would not be a good choice for MOTW and I'm sure the serious MOTW players would not appreciate it. So please, I'll ask one more time, stop making a mockery of me and this thread.
Feel free to mock me anywhere else in this forum though.
Thank you,
MB

NOOOOOOOO
Dark ages took like an hour playing just with the bots
6 humans would be insane.
i can see the 5 hour marathons now.
it's a great map but you need like a 50 inch monitor and hours to kill to finish it playing with other humans.
MB even you stated that

Mesoamerican Battles has 108 countries. that is 69 less countries than The Dark Ages which has 177 !!!!!
Mesoamerican was a successful map due to the simplicity of the country shapes (hexagons). In The Dark Ages the shapes can be confusing in smaller screens.
Personally, i can't see myself spending 3 hours for one game.
I personally like the Idea of another state map, maybe do them every other week or once a month (depending on the volume of requests). I want to be like one of those old couples that tour the states in a RV and get stickers for all the states they have been through posted on the side. (seems we are in this kinda trend anyway just want to see it keep on keeping on.)

P.S.
mbauer, you kick ass! Thanks for all your hard work. If it wasn't for people like yourself we wouldn't have these kind of options.

This is true. But it was requested and it's been requested in the past as well. So, why not give it a shot? Can't really hurt anything and it is a very awesome map. Who knows maybe it will work out great and people will open up to larger maps.Enokrad wrote: MB even you stated thatmbauer wrote: 5) The sweet spot for multi-player maps is 40-60 countries. Thanks Odelay! We'll try to keep the state maps in the mix.Odelay wrote:I personally like the Idea of another state map, maybe do them every other week or once a month (depending on the volume of requests).

This is not a complete list ... is there any way to get the complete list posted ... starting with booze, I believembauer wrote: 4) Maps can only be MOTW once. Click here to see a complete list of past MOTWs
The older MOTW list has been fixed. You can see them all here (also linked from the bottom of the MOTW page):

I've always liked Organ Grinder.
killbot is even better for such large maps.3DA wrote:OK - I just, for the first time, played The Dark Ages. It's ridiculous. I've got 2 teaming reapers on there and I don't see how I can win.
most of the times i played killbot won the game.
reaper has problems with large maps like Dark Ages and Stargate.
Sparrow crashes 8/10 in those maps.
