Online Lux Wednesdays
Online Lux Wednesdays
In order to get some more regular Lux network play going I am starting Online Lux Wednesdays. I plan to come online every wednesday after dinner to get my Lux on. All you other Luxers out there are invited to come and play along.

Very nice idea.
Dustin, a very nice idea indeed! :D
Could you please provide some details on how to join the "Online Lux Wednesdays" sessions? Furthermore, it might be good to fix the time, especially for people from other timezones (like me) for whom "after dinner" might be later than 3 am...
Keep up the great work!

To join in you should first try the File->Join menu item (or Apple-J) from inside Lux. It will display a list of all internet public games. Hopefully there will be some there that you can then join.
In the absence of any active games you could start playing and await joiners. Just start a new game but make sure the 'Allow Network Players' and 'Internet Public' switches are checked. Lux uses port 6619, so people must be able to reach that through any firewall/router setup you have in order to host games.
As for time zones, I will be online during america's 'after dinner' (I live in eastern standard time). This doesn't stop europeans from playing during their 'after dinner' time. Or you could stay up really late...

Sounds good to me, but what kind of prize would it be?
Also, statistically what are the most active days/times for online games? In the past three days I've not seen more than 2 online games running. It could be the holiday season, though.
As a suggestion for a prize, how about a free registration code for a friend? (:

That's a great idea. Every now and then there could be a day of rankings JUST for that day. Love it! Great work. I love the game and the people that play it are all nice folks.

I have a question...
Is this going to be on the Wednesdays AFTER Tuesday? Or the Wednesdays BEFORE Thursday?
Or BOTH Wednesdays?
Or are you going to switch BACK AND FORTH each week?
Is it going to be EVERY week? Or every ALTERNATING week? Even-numbered dates vs odd-numbered dates?
IF alternating...oh brother, the possibilities are endless...
Just trying to understand. Please clarify.

Silly hazzanclown. It took me three posts to realize that this was an ancient thread. I wasted 3 minutes on this. Happy?? Don't you think I have better things to do?
Since my evening is ruined anyway I might as well read all the posts...

A ranking DAY?? Cool. Then we can have daily medals on Wednesdays (or every other Wednesday) and weekly medals on Sundays. And if we change to monthly reset we can have monthly medals on the last day of the month (unless it's a Wednesday or a Sunday when other medals will be handed out) The reset time will be when dustin's dinner is over (on Wednesdays) so it will be a bit random but that's good cause then the aussies can't complain about the reset is in the morning bla bla bla... So weekly medals all weeks (or maybe only odd-numbered weeks as KP suggested) except the last week when we have monthly medals. Sounds good to me.dustin wrote:One interesting idea I just had would be to have a Ranking day where the rankings were reset at the beginning of the day and at midnight the top player got a prize.
