By 221 AD, the three most powerful warlords (Cao Cao, Liu Bei, and Sun Quan) had divided China into three kingdoms; Wei in the north, Shu in the southwest, and Wu in the southeast. Shu controls the mountainous regions in the southwest, and Wu controls the river and lake regions in the southeast. The only real chance for Liu Bei and Sun Quan is to form an alliance and fight against the powerful Cao Cao to the north. Cao Cao, on the other hand, tries to disrupt the southern alliance and exert its territorial advantage over the two weaker kingdoms. SUGGESTIONS This map looks best with thin borders.
