Hey luxers,
Version 1.8 of Alliance is now out. It has some new sound effects. I'm curious to hear what you think of them...

I'm trying to run this latest update on Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS. The last version that worked was 1.7.2, but updates after that haven't worked. This is the error I get when trying to launch 1.8:

~/LuxAllianceLinux$ Error: A JNI error has occurred, please check your installation and try again

I've enjoyed the game and would love to try out the latest version.

Hi Dustin,

The new sound effects work great. The sound of the actual move is comparatively a bit loud, so I just turn my volume down and it works fine.

Also, to continue our earlier thread re: unit customization, it appears the mods I've made to att-def-costs is now working, so great job on this new customization feature. I've made HQs quite expensive so as to make it prohibitive to build new ones (I like having them represent cities and/or objectives already on the map), and I've made their def quite high so as to require careful and high att siege. Often it appears that the AI bots disregard this and go ahead and attempt attacks on my HQs even when suicidal. It would be great if the AI would get more wise to this and attack more carefully. (It appears that the AI recognizes the higher def strength I have given pawns, and so the AI often backs off attacking big stacks of pawns, but this recognition appears to be somewhat lost when attacking HQs).

Any luck on making the actual unit icons a bit smaller (so that I can shrink my hex size and create larger maps to fill full screen)?

I updated the Linux build of Lux Alliance. I think it should work for Linux again now.

You can shrink the unit images down to whatever size you want. Just make them smaller in the same size transparent background.
