1. Who are the OLDTIMERS?
Anyone who has been Luxing for more than five years. In other words, if you played your first online game before October 1, 2007, then you qualify. If you are unsure of your age, then join any Lux game, type "/a your name" in chat, and a web browser should open with your alias page. Look at the "User ID" column, and if you're lowest ID number is less than 19843, then you may play in the tournament. Also, you can try joining the OLDTIMERS room while guested in, and if you're too young, then you will be autobooted.
(If you get autobooted, then please don't throw yourself against the electric fence again and again.)
2. But para! I joined Lux in 2004! Why are you letting noobs play in my tourney?!
Five years is a long time in any online gaming community, and there are only so many of us who are still here. If I drew the line any further back, then I suspect we'd have a hard time gathering enough players together for games. Besides, I've come up with a clever way to reward the more elderly among us: Age based RAW bonuses! Anyone born near the October 2007 cut-off date will be given the usual number of points, but those born back in April 2004 will be given double, with a linear scale in-between extremes. Also, the bonus only applies to positive RAW scores. For example, here are several players, and their bonus levels for the tournament: Atom (2.00x), Baden (1.89x), AquaRegia (1.79x), paranoiarodeo (1.68x), General K (1.58x), Lantern (1.40x), Big Will E Style (1.28x), Schroberts (1.20x), 3DA (1.14x), etc.
3. Okay, fine. How's the scoring work?
I'm gonna use the same RAW formula that's been in place for the last two months. All games will be scored twice; once for the usual weekly ranks, so you won't lose momentum in the chase, and again, separately, for the tournament. Basically, OLDTIMER games will be a cozy little subset, and everyone will be starting at 500. As for the minimum number of games required for awards, you must play "3.0 FH equivalents." A six human Classic game counts as 1.0, whereas bot games will be less based on average times, bigger maps will be worth more, etc., just like the RAW formula works nowadays. Since we're using a RAW based scoring system with big bonuses, I expect there will be incentive for everyone to play more than the minimum, if they wanna complete for the bling.
4. What maps will we be playing?
Being an OLDTIMERS tourney, I've chosen Classic, of course, non-bio DEUX REDUX, this week's MOTW, Castle Lux SI, and To The Power Of Hex. If any player would like to suggest additional maps, then you can send me a forum PM, or post a message here in this thread. I won't promise to include all suggestions, but will be happy to add two or three popular maps to the rotation. Please make sure you've installed all these plug-ins, as the game room will be randomly changing throughout the course of the tournament, and you don't wanna get caught flat-footed, waiting for a theme to download.
5. What the hell?! Why do I keep getting booted?
Probably 'cause you're using a newer alias. Only aliases born before Luxtoberfest 4 can play. No exceptions.

Lovely Ladies of Lux!
Even though we have three whole blissful days of bashing each other about for glory and Luxtoberfest bling (thank you, paranoiarodeo), I'd like to suggest we try to meet up on Thursday, the final night, for a little celebration of female Luxing.
There will be frosty libations. Lux' charming moderator-cum-dj 3DA has been pressed into service for your listening/dancing pleasure. And there is a rumor that the ladies will have a special #command at our disposal (fun!).
3Dradio will start around 11 EDT, possibly earlier... I plan to show up around 9 or 10. Alternate suggestions for a time are most welcome. Fishnets optional. (Except for Smashley.)

How do I sign up for Ladies tourney?
I hope i isn't too late to join in the Ladies tourney. What is the structure of this? Do I need to sign in at a certain time to play in this tourney?

Not too late at all, Danzer. It runs for another couple of days. Just join the LADIES host in the tracker. I believe games with two or more females will accumulate points... more points for more players, obviously. Maps rotate. Full details will probably be published here, so keep checking.
Good luck!
Good luck!
