Popularity!
Originally conceived by the handsome Capicola, I bring this fun and popular game once again to you with his blessing, just in time for Luxtoberfest X!
How to play:
The object of this game is simple. Every other day, I will post a set of 10 questions to the official game thread. Pick the most popular answers correctly, and score points!
It's very important to remember that I'm not asking you for your own personal answers to the questions. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions, per say. You are looking for the answer that the most people choose. Confused? Don't be!
Here's an example:
Scoring:
The goal of the game is to provide the most POPULAR answers among everyone playing the game. For each round, 6 questions will be worth 1 point each, and 4 questions will be worth 2 points each, for a total of 14 possible points per round. Questions worth 2 points will have more possible answers to choose from, making it harder to guess the most popular answer.
Putting it all together, here's another example (assuming there are 20 people playing):
If you are one of the six people who guessed that Skunk would be the most popular answer, you would receive one point for this question. Any other answer is worth 0 points. Again, you're not picking which animal you are most afraid of, but which animal you think the most people will pick.
Elimination:
After each round, the person with the lowest number of cumulative points will be eliminated from the game. NOT the person who had the lowest score for that specific round. This means that even if you have a bad round of answers, you may not necessarily be eliminated for that round. As long as someone else in the tournament has less overall points than you, you can keep playing!
Note: Due to the large number of contestants (yay!), the first five rounds will be single-elimination, and the final eights rounds will be double-elimination.
Immunity:
The player with the highest number of points for each round will be immune from the following elimination. If the player with the lowest cumulative points has immunity during a round of questioning, the person with the 2nd least points will be eliminated.
No immunity will be awarded once we are down to six players.
How to Win:
When there are only four players remaining in the game, I will ask a round of 20 fact-based answers, based on previously asked questions in the tournament. Those final four players will have to remember back through the tournament and do their research to come up with the CORRECT answers.
Example:
For this final round, there are correct answers to each question, and point totals will be worth more. (Note, the host may also reserve the right to throw in a bonus round of these kind of "fact-based" questions at some point in the middle of the course of the game, just to shake things up!)
After this final round, the player with the most cumulative points will be declared the winner, and awarded the title of Mr. or Ms. Popularity!
Times!
Schedule allowing, I will post questions for each round at 10:00 PM EST. Answers will be DUE to Schroberts via private message by 7:00 PM EST two days later (each round will last two days). That three hour difference is needed to tabulate scores, since the most "popular" answer cannot be determined until ALL answers are received. Please be aware of the time limits, as late submissions will receive a score of 0 for that round.
