I can't see it, but I can confirm that it's a picture of n00less as a child.

(he loves Alf, right?)

Underneath this costume, I really AM Alf, and yes, there IS a pussycat in my lunchbox.

Melvin's classmates would later coin a term for the male camel-toe in his honor.

Edited to fix typo.

I think this should be a peer vote contest. I love Drifter, but how does his inside joke about fluffing a duck win? 95% of the people on here don't even know what that means.

But that's precisely why he won. Fuckin' bullseye, yo.

just for the record -- the "duck fluffing" caption got a 1st place vote from both para and schroberts. it received no votes from me, because while i appreciated the in-joke, i didn't think it was funny enough to earn points.

(and i have plenty of respect for lux history -- just ask magpie)

For the record, this is a Lux forum photo caption contest, during Luxtoberfest, a time steeped in Lux tradition. Therefore, a caption entry that manages to capture Lux history and be funny? That's a winner in my book.

Also, not sure why we need to debate one winning caption out of this whole competition. The host of this game asked two quartermasters to help him judge. That's just the way he wanted to run this one, I guess. It should be noted that there have been a couple submissions that I thought were really funny and voted to win, that haven't received points because apparently the other judges didn't vote on those. Just how majority works, yo.

Schroberts, how can you vote for something from Lux History that you had no part of? Is there a place on the lux mod forum that explains this fluffing duck joke that makes it funny for you? I just think this place can be a little High School sometimes and it ruins it for the rest of us. I will agree, however, that I am being overly sensitive, especially in a game that is silly and just for fun...but it's kind of a problem of mine. I speak my mind.

Obviously I have nothing but respect for both you and Para. I just think this Lux History thing is a little dramatic.

So, in your logic, I had to be there for it when it originally happened to understand it's place in Lux? That's a little high school, if you ask me.

Yeah, and you're the one the brought it up. I'm just explaining why I thought it was a funny caption. No drama here.

All I'm saying is, I wasn't here when it happened, so I have no idea what it means/why it's funny.

Just for giggles, I went back to see what BWE's caption was for that photo 'cause I couldn't remember it: "Don't worry, he's a pussy." Umm, okay. Humor's a notoriously strange thing, and we all have our own sense of what's funny, but how's that obviously more funny than everything else? 'cause i don't get it. Strikes me as predictable, fratboyish, and, well, like something I woulda heard in high school, y'know?

Drifter's caption was a very subtle play on Lux tradition during a month when we're supposedly celebrating Lux traditions. Even toro managed to drag himself outta his art director's cave long enough to giggle. We could had ourselves a full-blown anti-holy versus semi-holy smackdown had a few others come outta the woodwork like Preach, BarStar, mbauer, Kef, Mike, Snype, MWHM, etc. Coulda been fun.

And for the record: I originally suggested that this contest should be scored with community feedback at the end of the month. Two or three different times, in fact. Andrew didn't wanna do that, and preferred to leave his personal fingerprints on things. Maybe next time around, we can setup some sorta webpage that would allow anyone with a forum account to rank unnamed contributions instead.

Interestingly enough, according to Dustin, that makes you a n00b

For the record, I thought my entry was the best I've put out so far
