Your first LUX game ever......

Post by jOnNiE » Sun Dec 11, 2005 8:37 pm

It has now been one year of my LUX experience. This thread is to encourage people to post their first lux game ever. Let's see how bad/good we did as a N00B.

here's mine against Natya back on dec. 2nd 2004

http://sillysoft.net/lux/rankings/game/18457

I think my no bots first strategy shows in this game since we all lost to bots.

I made the mistake of checking out the forums before I ever played online and you people scared the hell out of me. I don't know how long it took before I finally got the courage to join my first game, but here it is:

http://sillysoft.net/lux/rankings/game/49982

I assume I got lucky :D

Carpe Puga!

http://sillysoft.net/lux/rankings/game/8911

winning after 66 (!) rounds with shopi, mbauer and rip. Simply barricaded with huge amount of armies since my attack-skills weren't well developed and it worked.

rip vanished in October 04 but he left a remarkable link:

http://www.ferkel.co.uk/cgi/riskdata.cgi

There you'll find data of "The Faringdon Risk League". rip obviously played risk for years with some guys in this league.

Very amusing are the hints for possible noobs "Read this first: don't say we didn't warn you." Some excerpts:

"Once everyone is sat at the table and the beers have been tested, each player rolls a dice to determine who goes first."

"Rule One: Do Not Get In The Way"
"Rule Two: Do not expect to hold a border country with less than four defending armies"
"For the first time player, the absolute first thing to remember is: Rule Three: Do Not Overextend Yourself, Especially Early On."

Maybe he left since his online-risk skills weren't outstanding (20% winning).

i got to play with mbauer, michelle AND Preacherman in my first online game. I was awe struck by such brilliance.... I always am amazed that I've been around longer then some of the lux icons. Never would have guessed that jonnie was newer at this then I am.

btw I hope to start playing again soon. I *might* get a pay raise/new job this week which means I'll be able to buy a computer desk. I just can't get the needed click speed when my mouse pad is "the legend of zelda collector's edition" gamecube game case, my key board rests on a box and I have to sit cross legged on the floor.

This isn't the first online game, just the first online game to have its info recorded for posterity. Still, I think it's cool that Preacherfellow won the first recorded game.

Here's my debut:

This reminds me, my one year Luxiversary is coming up. I started, right from the first, in one of my favorite positions - under pale kate. What a way to lose my virginity!

pm mk next time weed. :)

Lux has definately changed since my first couple games as a n00b. I keep seeing the new old timers start acting like the old old timers by not giving a crap about RAW and just playing to chat with friends and kick some ass in this great game.

I wonder if para would ever consider joining this sort of gameplay? Only time will tell.

My first game on record is April 7th, 2004...
http://sillysoft.net/lux/rankings/game/10

There were many more prior to that, but I believe it was the first day of official game database (game #10 of all-time). Too bad the "before times" weren't recorded :(

Here's a few more memorable non-classic games from the early days...

Geiler,
There were many online games with Nef prior to the first game in the database. There is a pre-history gap in the record.

Preach,
Didn't Nef predate Hex as your first add on to Lux? I distinctly remember your first priority being the creation of a female bot (with personality) to inflict delicious pain on all. Or maybe I am just recalling general chat.

I honestly can't remember Sas - I was pretty sure Hex outdated Nef but I might be wrong - certainly the first add on I ever made was the UK map, then the USA one...after that, everything is a blur

Ahhh! The fog is clearing just a tiny bit here. I forgot that you made UK and USA! UK was the stage for many mighty battles with the old narcoleptic rob. And nathanielfinkin would surely be incomplete without USA. Has UK been map of the week yet? Should be.

lmao...yes, i was an old narcoleptic... but now I am a young narco.

did they change the name of UK??? it was once such an awesome map...

i remember nef, that little cyber-virgin turned sleek sexy slit yer throat killer...

then preach somehow fucked up the programming and she has never been the same. was it a drug overdose? too much confidence? or just a "brb coffee" moment that ended it all¿

and then, and then....

ummm, to be continued....
