He's 7 years old and severely bipolar. He's been on meds for years, but they tend to work on and off, and need to be changed frequently. He's started to just wander out of the house when no one is looking and be gone for hours - kind of scary behavior for a 7-year-old. He's in a psych ward for evaluation and to try and get his meds more stable, but he seems fine at the moment.

Unfortunately his mom - my sister-in-law - needs meds too, but won't admit it.

UC, the problem with mani's last diagram was that it was upside-down; black was on the bottom. g6 is a pawn move. Of course, it's gone now, so I guess it matters not.
As long as you don't object, I will add your Nephew to my prayer for healing, whether that comes in the form of physical health, mental/emotional health, or just the strength to struggle with the continuing challenges of sicknesses of all sorts

hmm.. Aqua just hung a knight - and the game. I mean sure I'll have to sack mine back soon enough, but I'll promote pawns after that.

Damn it! Is it really fair that he's squandered all his timebank posting puzzles in the forums instead of moving... and now asks to not be called on it when his flag falls? I really think 3 days per move PLUS seven days extra should have been more than enough to finish this.

I will abide by the will of the group on this.

I set a rule on timebank. If he goes over the time bank, feel free to time him out. Frankly I am tired of it myself.

There are time limits for a reason. In any tournament, no matter how amateur, a player would get laughed at if they made Manimals request.

Aqua, if it was my game, I'd evaluate position. If I was confident of my lead, I'd save myself the toruble and time him out. If I wasn't sure who's gam it was, just for my own vanity's sake, I'd probably want to play it out so I could beat him on the board.

But theres no debate, you are certainly within your rights to claim the win once his flag has fallen.

The position is pretty clear at this point - I'm going to lose unless mani blunders badly. ;-)

Luckily for him, his flag will fall at about 9 a.m. Monday morning, while I'm at work. Despite the name, chess@work is NOT accessible to me at work, so he'll have about 8 extra hours to move... I expect the point will be moot.

I half agree, I can't remember, (and unfortunately Wontrob has edited the original post) but did we have the game time set in the rules? If we did, then I'm all for timing him out.

MANI!!! - Sorry, but you keep posting all over the forums which leads us to believe you have time to kill. Kind of upsetting when you knew this was going to be a long tourney anyway.

Yes, I did post a 3 day per turn, 7 day timebank, (which is proving to be much more time than I anticipated). Mani is a few hours away from that limit with our game.

Has yet to move in his game. Granted, that post was 5 minutes ago, but nonetheless.

As that was well over four hours ago, I guess I'll just end it.

If it makes you feel any better, manimal, you surely had me beat, and I doubt one loss will matter much in the standings anyway.

grrrrr

I just can't do it. Never mind.

No. He's a couple moves from an advantage but without a stupid error, we're at least 5-10 moves from complete.

From the looks of it, it will be Manimal and Aqua going to the last 4 with UC and Deuce.

Let's clearly announce right now the time limits of the games for the final rounds.

Time limits as in, if you can't move before they arrive, whether from laziness or being stumped, or because you forgot, or because you're in Bermuda or whatever, then you l o s e.

Making it clear before the games start will prevent any... confusion.
I'm not in the mood for any month-long games, myself.

I agree. I like the idea of a 1 day per move with 7 days timebank, so as long as you get to a computer once a day you will be fine, but the timebank leaves for a day here or there where you cant reach one. I think 3 days per move with a 3 day timebank would work as well.

I prefer 3/3.

1/3, I think, would be too little. Would you prefer 3/3 or 1/7?

I just resigned to Manimal: so the last game in our group does not matter.

Final 4:

Damanimal
Aquaregia
Deucelux
Trefalcon

Same format as the last rounds... everyone plays 3 games, one against each of the other three.

GAMES WILL BE 3 DAYS / TURN ::: 3 DAYS TIMEBANK

TIEBREAKER WILL BE HEAD TO HEAD RESULT.

If you guys manage to have a 2-1, 2-1, 2-1, 0-3 result I will kill you all.
