Just some quick notes:
1. There is a crude autobooter in place. Non-invited players must join as guests only. Failure to do so, or attempting to guest into games after joining, will result in instantaneous boots. Lurkers, please, for the love of Lincoln, do not needlessly provoke the autobooter. Yes, it works. Trust me. I wish there was a more gracefully way of restricting players, like an official "you aren't allowed to guest in" sorta message built into Lux, but only dustin can arrange that sorta thing.
(It's kinda fun, though, watching newbies bounce off the room, like it's a bug zapper, or electric dog fence.)
2. Scoring updates in game chat won't be available until tonight. I gotta get some live results into my database, before I can double check that everything's fine, or make some changes, etc. Same goes for a rankings webpage. For the time being, please enjoy your games without worrying too much about early stats. Honestly, day one rankings fluctuate like crazy, and don't mean much until later, after everyone's played a significant number of games.
3. There will be semi-random map changes before every restart. Some of you will find this terribly annoying. My apologies. But, as tourney master, I don't want (unscrupulous) players cherry picking just one or two maps. Ideally, everyone will spread their wings, and challenge one another on all six maps. Crazy, I know. Again, lemme recommend that you install all plugins, and resize if necessary, before playing. Otherwise, you might miss some first moves, while waiting for themes to download, or fussing with your game windows. Be prepared.
4. I will post an official scoring system overview tomorrow (Oct 1). Anyone who played in my tourneys last year should have a basic idea of what to expect. However, there are two big changes this year: 1) Like Snype's castle tourney last winter, you will receive bonus points for each kill made, so in other words, aggressive play will be rewarded; 2) Game time limit restarts (stalemates) will count. Both changes are made possible by some custom host side voodoo that I've been working on this week. If all goes smoothly, these improvements will be used in all tourneys this month, and who knows, maybe I'll start playing around with a modified RAW system in November.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Good luck all.

Since Bod asked in game chat: All maps have game time limits; Classic and Biodeux are 30m; DEUX and EPOCH are 37m; Rome and U.S.A. War Zone are 45m. You will get a little more credit time / minimum requirement wise, when playing the maps with longer limits, 'cause they take a little more time to play.

The criteria for invitation were not personal. They are posted above and I made zero exceptions. Again, to earn an invitation, you needed: a short term seed of 25th or better since Jan 1, long term seed of 25th or better since July 1, more than 100 FH games after 2010 with a win % above 25.0, or a first place weekly RAW medal after Oct 2010. This Tournament of Champions is a reward for players who excelled since last year's Luxtoberfest. Play well during the next twelve months, and you will be invited to this special tournament in 2012.
Also, there will be twelve more tournaments in the next four weeks, and everyone can play in those events.
(Please, let's look forward to more fun in the near future.)

Awesomely fun start to Luxtoberfest 8, paranoiarodeo! (Even for a spectator like me, although Smot's itchy trigger finger is perfectly understandable... )
Impressive sportsmanship on display yesterday, too, even with major bling on the line... and especially since the tournament pushes boundaries for the 2011 Champions, with some less familiar maps and settings. A true test for some truly great players... good luck all!

I must had not read carefully yuor post since I think I have all the criteria:
I achieved 16th place in seeds, and got lots of wins ... but, once again, no problem, i'll be looking foward.
and I was sincerally wishing to all a great time.
And also many thanks for the reply )

Since Jan 1, 2011, your best short term seed was 90th, on Jan 2. Your all-time high of 16th was Sept 26, 2010. That would have qualified you for last year's TOC in Luxtoberfest 7, but not this year's. As for your win percentage: Since Nov 1, 2010, you are 59 of 334 for 17.7% FH, below the 25% threshold for invitation. Sorry juveke. I wish I could invite everyone, especially nice guys like you, but then it wouldn't be a true "tourney of champions". Maybe next year? Good luck!juveke wrote:I achieved 16th place in seeds, and got lots of wins ...

Yes,,,
Congrats to all the winners. It was a very nicely formatted tournament. My Kudos goes to Para for the set up, as I'm sure this tourney and the future ones takes a lot of preparation to set up.
Wish I could of been more competative , but , alas,,,, the Lux Dice Gods frowned upon me.... haha..
And, Sam,,, Imma hoping u don't mean me !!!!!!
